BET AWARDS '05 Shatters All-Time Viewer ship Mark
Salute to Greatness Becomes Most-Watched Show in BET's 25-Year History; Kanye West, Ciara, Alicia Keys and John Legend Lead List of WinnersRapper/producer impresario Kanye West was the evening's big winner, grabbing awards for Best Male Hip Hop Artist and for Video of the Year for his spiritual composition "Jesus Walks." First-time BET AWARDS nominees Ciara and John Legend each walked away with trophies, as Ciara won for Best Collaboration for her tandem with rapper Missy Elliott on "1, 2 Step," and Legend scored as Best New Artist. Multi-platinum songstress Alicia Keys took home her first BET Award as well, being crowned Best Female R&B Artist. BET also used the star-studded night to honor music legend Gladys Knight with the network's Lifetime Achievement Award, and Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta with the BET Humanitarian Award.

Ciara, John Legend, Kanye West top BET Awards nominations
Ciara is not just the princess of Crunk-n-B, she's the queen of the BET Awards nominations, leading all other nominees with a total of four nominations. The 2005 ceremony will be held June 28 at Los Angeles' Kodak Theatre."I didn't think things would happen so fast," the 18-year-old Atlanta native said. "The first single ["Goodies"] was a great way to start out. But I never look up. I'm just working hard now; I'll look up later to see everything else that's happening."
The "Goodies" singer is up for best female R&B artist, best new artist and best collaboration for "1, 2 Step" featuring Missy Elliott.
Other heavy-hitters include John Legend, Kanye West and Destiny's Child who each earned three nominations.
Slated for this year's lifetime achievement award is soul icon Gladys Knight. Denzel Washington will be joined by his wife Pauletta as they both receive the humanitarian award.
The event will be hosted by Hollywood power couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Confirmed performers for the 5th annual BET Awards are Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, The Game, Elliott and Ludacris.

R+B beauty CIARA is set to unveil her rapping skills on hip-hop star MISSY ELLIOTT's upcoming album.WORK IT rapper Missy added her vocals to Ciara's hit track 1, 2 STEP, and now the GOODIES singer is returning the favour.
She tells MTV, "The one thing nobody really knows is that before I was doing the singing, I was rapping. I wasn't in the studio or anything, but I used to sit on the porch and freestyle with the guys, my little cheesy raps.
"Missy made me do it (on her upcoming album). It sounds weird right now, but I'm just doing a little bit. I hope it's okay, but I trust her."
Their as-yet-untitled song is potentially Missy's first single, says Ciara, who adds of the track, "It's about music, how musicmakes you feel and makes you lose control. It's uptempo, it's dance, it's crazy."
Ciara DVD Coming In April
Ciara is getting ready to release her first DVD this spring. The DVD is set to hits stores on April 19 and, according to Ciara's record label, the DVD promises an up-close and personal look at the first lady of Crunk 'n' B.Ciara's McDonald's All-Star Halftime performance has been added.
